Meet The Ken Fox Wall of Death Team

A family business and performing since 1912, find out a little more about the The Ken Fox Wall of Death team.

Alex Fox

Alex is Ken’s youngest son and grew up with the wall. He has travelled since he was a baby and been riding since he was 11 years old. He says as soon as he could sit on the bike and touch the floor he was training to follow in his fathers footsteps.

Alex has a love for bikes and not just those with a engine he also loves mountain biking and riding dirt jumps. He is always keen to get out to a local bike park or on a trail ride and explore new places when the team are on the road. However his pride and joy is his Motorbike trials bike, during their down time you can often find him out on the hills with his friends finding logs and rocks to navigate over.

Alex has been trick riding since he was 15 and has ridden in Germany, Holland and Austria alongside the UK. He has performed at some of the biggest festivals in the UK including Glastonbury and worked with lots of TV and film crews such as Top Gear.

Ken Fox

Ken grew up with the wall in Skegness, when it was a fixture on the Botton’s amusement park. As he grew up and travelling fairs became the place to be Ken started to travel with them also, he has travelled around the world with various walls, and has rode in Singapore as well as across Africa alongside Europe and the UK.

Teaching others about the wall and its history is a something Ken is very passionate about. He spends a lot of time teaching his Children, grand children and staff all the workings of the vintage motorcycles they still use today.

Ken’s passion has always been the Wall of Death and it is not only a job but also a lifestyle and a hobby for him. Therefore no job is too big or small for him to get stuck into and you can find him working alongside everyone else each day.

He enjoys working on his Magneto’s. You can often find him tinkering with one in the evenings, as well as working on the spare bike engines.

Ken has appeared in various TV and film clips over the years and has worked with some big names including Idris Elba and Guy Martin.

Julie Fox

Julie is Kens wife and mother to Luke and Alex. She met Ken whilst he was performing at The Cheshire Steam Rally and has travelled with him and the wall every since. Julie is a major part of the wall of Death family as not only mother to her children but mother to everyone who works on the wall. Julie can always be found in the box office selling the show tickets and interacting with the public.

Ken married Julie at the Great Dorset Steam Fair in 1997 and they had their ceremony in the wall with their children and close friends. She attends all the events with Ken and gets just as stuck in as everyone else, you will often see her applying finishing touches during the building up of the wall. Julie loves reading and can be found with her head in a book during the teams down time.

Luke Fox

Luke, Ken’s eldest son started riding at the age of 11. Being a lover of all things mechanical Luke couldn’t wait to learn to ride on the wall. It wasn’t long before he mastered the skills of trick riding as well as the go kart and the hell riders race. Like his younger brother Alex he himself owns his own very special Indian Motorcycle. It is not only the oldest one we have on the firm bit it also used to belong to the infamous Tornado Smith.

As well as the UK, Luke has travelled across Europe riding various Walls of Death with his family. He has appeared in several TV episodes and performances including The Royal Theatre of Scotland, Blue Peter and ITV’s The Royal just to name a few. He Also helped alongside his father to train Guy Martin for his world record attempt.

His hobbies and interests include Flat track racing, American cars and engineering. Luke now travels his own wall along with his wife Kerri and their 2 children. Like Ken’s wall they attend events all over the UK and Europe and the teams regularly meet up for big events.

Abby Fox

Abby joined the team in 2012 during a trip to the Pickering steam fair she met Alex and they started dating. She travelled with the team for the remainder of the 2012 season, where she was taught how to ride the rollers, and then again in 2013 when she became a full-time fixture with us. Which is when Alex taught her how to ride his Honda CB200 on the wall. Abby has since evolved in her abilities and now not only rides her own Honda but also has her own Indian Scout which is the 1927 model she also drives the go-kart as well as participating in the Hell Riders race. Abby and Alex married in 2017 and are the only married couple who both ride the wall of death in the present day.

Abby loves horses and has a history of owning and competing her own horses. She enjoys finding places to ride whilst we are out on the road and has taken part in western and stunt riding. She also loves to travel and her and Alex visit many exciting places both with and without the wall. Not only has Abby rode in the UK but also in Germany and Holland.

Lucy & Gizmo (Fox)

Gizmo is a black cocker spaniel who belongs to Alex and Abby. He joined the team at the end of 2019. Gizmo travels full time with the team and has the best time scouting out all the best walking spots. He loves racing round the fields and his favourite treat is cheese. He can be found sitting on the front of the show and sharing (stealing) ice cream with passers-by. Keep an eye out for him and some of his recommended dog friendly walks/ food spots and stays away throughout the year.

Lucy is a German Shepherd, and she belongs to Ken and Julie. She joined the team at the end of 2021. Lucy is really a big ball of fluff and loves playing with other dogs and children. She can be found on the front of the show alongside Gizmo. Lucy is the chief bag checker and loves having a rummage to see if anyone has anything edible on them.

Kerri Cameron

Kerri joined us in 2004. She found the troupe accidentally in the job cdentre whilst looking for work with horses. She had typed horse rider into the search engine and “Wall of Death rider” appeared amongst the results. Curiosity took hold as she read the advert and decided to call up for an interview. After all the job never mentioned motorbikes, just that they were looking to replace a recently retired lady rider. Naturally Kerri was quite surprised to see motorbikes whirling around the wall instead of horses! She was instantly hooked though when she saw Luke Fox (Ken’s eldest son and Kerri’s now husband) riding around doing the tricks and stunts you see the team performing today. She knew from then that a career change was in order and now 19 years later Kerri herself is performing those same tricks on her own beautiful 1927 Indian Scout.

Her passions include horse riding and classic American cars of which she is the proud owner of her very own 1967 Ford Mustang.

Karmila Purba

Mila is joining the team all the way from Sumatra Utara, Indonesia. She has rode on various wall’s of Death over in Indonesia since she was just 15 years old, Mila is not only talented on the wall where she partakes in the Hell Riders race and can also perform tricks and stunts, she also is musically talented and enjoys playing the guitar, piano and singing. Karmila has a huge social media presence with over 140,000 followers. She spends her free time exploring the UK and is enjoying her time here so far.

Captain Donald

Donald was a former member of the German armed forces. He came over from Germany for Ken to teach to ride specifically for the Oktoberfest, held in Germany each year. He progressed from straight riding to trick riding and has become a spectacular performer.

Donald now splits his time between his home in Germany and here in England where he travels with Luke’s Original Wall of Death.

He is currently renovating his own canal boat. He has a passion for woodwork and can often be found in the teams wood working shed creating a new masterpiece

Chris John

Chris was obsessed with the Wall of Death ever since he saw it as a small child at the BMF show in Peterborough. He grew up in Leicestershire and went to Loughborough University to study Physics. He has had many jobs, from motorcycle hearse rider to school teacher, but as soon as he graduated he started spieling with the Wall of Death and has since learnt to ride. Chris is obsessed with learning, and has just started to play the piano, he also has an interest in old cars, old boats, in fact anything old!

Danny Dare

Danny first met the team in 1996 when they were looking for a new member to join their team. He became a permenant fixture whilst they were at the Upton on Severn Steam Rally. He progressed from performing the straight ride as a trainee to participating in the 3 man race, as well as driving the Go-kart

Danny’s riding career has taken him all over the world and during the teams winter break he would jet off to Thailand and ride over there during the winter months. He has now retired from riding and has instead stepped up as the teams barker on the front of the show. Still dazzaling the crowd with his witty spiel.

Martin & Corrinne

Corrinne and Martin have been long term friends of Ken, Julie and all the family for almost 20 years which came about after a chat at the front of the show one Sunday afternoon and ended with Martin offering to help build up the following week after Ken had been let down. That build up lead onto Corrinne and Martin eventually becoming full time members of the team after helping and supporting Ken and the gang for several years. Travelling initially with Ken & Alex on wall 1, then on wall 2 with Luke & Kerri. Martin and Corrinne look after the front of the show with Martin doing the speilling  (front of show caller) and Corrinne the cashier in the pay box. As with all the team they also build up, pull down and drive the vehicles through.
